Good morning.

Something a bit different today. I have started working more on textiles that I used to. You can do more with them than with paper in some ways - they don't tear for a start! (Well, not unless you want them to that is.)

Here I have worked with strips of recycled sari silk which work beautifully with the embellishing machine. I started off with a plain white cotton base sheet and just felted the strips of sari silk in place. This gives some lovely textures as the edges of the strips are frayed and the are all wrinkled. Some I flattened out to give a smoother surface and then some I have deliberately left wrinkled to give extra layers. Some of the silks have a shine to them which add an extra dimension and some even change colour slightly depending on how the light falls on them

Once the felting process was finished. I added freehand machine embroidery to add the bushes and some lines in the water. I may well add some hand embroidery too to give even more texture.

In a bid to start building up our business, I thought I would start a series of small giveaways of various crafting supplies. So here is your chance to win a delightful 6" x 6" pad of paper "Spring Jubilee" from "Pink Paislee" with two strips of coordinating chipboard images.

All you need to do is leave a comment below and check back on Monday 12th November when I will have drawn a random winner.

It would also be great if you could visit and "like" our Face book page at Designs on Craft so that you can follow the ups and downs of starting up a business. We also have a website at: Designs on Craft

The papers are absolutely beautiful featuring birds, butterfiles and flowers. There are 36 sheets (6 designs).
Don't forget to leave a comment on the blog and check back in two weeks.

The Crafty Catz challenge is for an easel card.

Totally Papercrafts is for making your own flowers.

The Critter Sketch challenge provided the layout for the front of the card.

The stamped image is by Sheena Douglass. The Happy Birthday Sentiment by Chocolate Baroque. These were both stamped on white card and embossed with clear embossing powder. Both were coloured with various colours of distress ink. - shades of blue plus Milled Lavender.

These were layered onto navy blue pearlescent card, the same card as used for the A4 base of the easel card. Crafters Companion paper and card was used for the light blue scalloped outlines, the scallops being made using the Ultimate Pro.

The flowers were made from layers from My Craft Studio.
